Oklahoma City ranks as the "Horse Show Capital of the World," yet there’s no horsing around when it comes to serious, abundant shopping. Bricktown, at Sheridan and Broadway and a crossroads of renewal, has a Bass Pro Shop along with smaller retailers, restaurants, and nightclubs. The Paseo Arts District, built in 1929 as the first commercial shopping district north of downtown, teems with works of artists, potters, and photographers. Other shopping-rich districts include Stockyards City and Western Avenue. Malls include 50 Penn Place, with Talbot’s, Israel’s Fine Menswear, and Olive Garden; Crossroads Mall, with Foley’s, JCPenney, and Dillard’s; Heritage Park Mall on Reno Avenue; Northpark Mall, an upscale lifestyle retail mecca; Penn Square Mall, with Dillard’s, Foley’s, and JCPenney; and Quail Springs Mall, with Dillard’s, Foley’s and Sears. Retail centers include Casady Square, Clyde Carter Center, French Market Mall, Gateway, Holiday Square, Mayfair Village, OKC Market Square, Quail Plaza, Smithcot Square, Southeastern Plaza, Walnut Village, West Park Mall, and Windsor Park.
